Since 1998, Miranda Contracting, Inc. has provided site and utility contractor services in support of government public works projects, retail and commercial developers, and residential communities. Known as the "hands-on, you can count on company," Miranda Contracting has successfully completed over 35 projects, totaling more than $23 million.
Miranda Contracting is led by President James Garrison and CEO Joshua Garrison, who both personally superintend every project. Together, they lead a well-seasoned and highly skilled team of estimators, project managers, foremen, equipment operators, and laborers. Miranda’s capabilities include site preparation, excavation, water, and wastewater utilities, paving, drainage, and landscaping services, to name a few. They are also a licensed fire main contractor and hold a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspector license. Historically, some of Miranda’s clients have included the City of Jacksonville, Palatka County, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, numerous commercial developers, and area residential developers.
Market Expansion and Growth Through Government Contracting
Recognizing the opportunity for market expansion and growth through government contracting, Miranda Contracting sought the assistance of the Florida Procurement Technical Assistance Center at the University of North Florida (UNF). There, Joshua Garrison met with Don Zavesky, a Procurement Specialist, who provided Miranda Contracting with market intelligence information through the Florida SBDC at UNF's Rapid Research Request services.
Preferred Small Business Certifications Foster Award-Winning Growth
In addition, Zavesky and Garrison identified several preferred small business certifications, such as the Florida Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business Enterprise (JSEB) certifications. Utilizing this information, Garrison and the Miranda Contracting team prepared all required paperwork and submitted their small business applications to the State of Florida and City of Jacksonville. As a result, Miranda Contracting received their Hispanic MBE and JSEB certifications.
With the assistance of the Florida Procurement Technical Assistance Center at UNF, Miranda Contracting continues to experience growth. They recently received contract awards valued in the millions and now employ 20 people in the Jacksonville area. In July 2014, Miranda Contracting was named one of the fastest-growing companies in Northeast Florida by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
