Florida SBDC Network Celebrates National SBDC Day

Florida SBDC Network State Office (Pensacola, Fla.) – The Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, the state’s principal provider of business assistance, joined SBDCs across the country in celebrating the tenth annual National SBDC Day Wednesday, March 18.

SBDC Day serves as a nationwide tribute to the role SBDCs play in supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners.  On SBDC Day, SBDCs across the country will share client success stories and highlight the impact small businesses have on local communities and the national economy. This special celebration is marked by official proclamations, community events, and digital campaigns recognizing the entrepreneurs and consultants who work together to drive small business growth.

SBDCs are a key resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration. With nearly 1,000 locations across the country, SBDCs provide local entrepreneurs and business owners with the tools and expertise needed to succeed. America’s SBDCs provide measurable economic results - in 2024, SBDCs nationally helped clients create 68,033 new jobs, generate $5.1 billion in sales, and secure $5.53 billion in capital.

Founded in 1976 as one of the first SBDCs in the nation, the Florida SBDC Network is celebrating 50 years of helping Florida’s small businesses launch, grow and thrive. Hosted statewide by the University of West Florida, the Florida SBDC Network provides no-cost consulting, training, and educational resources to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

“SBDC Day celebrates the impact of Florida’s small businesses and the consultants who support them,” said Greg Britton, state director of the Florida SBDC Network. “Our team has the privilege of walking alongside entrepreneurs as they take risks, solve problems, and build businesses that strengthen their communities. We’re grateful to the small business owners who trust us as partners and to our consultants and staff across the state who work tirelessly to help them succeed.”

In 2024, the Florida SBDC Network delivered 107,812 hours of consulting to 15,474 small business clients - resulting in business owners securing $304 million in capital, $732 million in government contracts, impacting 19,800 jobs, increasing sales by over $3.8 billion, and creating 1,019 new businesses.

Businesses, partners, and community members across Florida participated in the celebration by sharing their experiences with the Florida SBDC Network and highlighting the impact of small businesses in their communities.
