Florida SBDC at Florida International University - Program Coordinator

Job Description:

The Temporary Program Coordinator will provide administrative support to Florida SBDC at College of Business under the Business Growth and Acceleration Program (BizGap) for Florida’s 27th Congressional District in Miami-Dade County. BizGap will provide business consulting and training in municipalities within District 27 in key areas such as government contracting, access to capital, financial literacy, and startup assistance. The Temporary Program Coordinator will serve as the project lead focusing on business client intake and community outreach, including organizing trainings and developing local partnerships to meet program deliverables.
This is a temporary assignment ending on April 30, 2025.

Duties include:

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies including events, programs and outreach activities to promote program consulting services among Florida’s 27th Congressional District small businesses.
  • Assess the needs of potential business participants in relation to technical assistance, trainings, events, and external resources.
  • Coordinate with business consultants and training providers to monitor the center’s performance in relation to program deliverables and goals.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts and partnerships for the dissemination of information regarding program services and events
  • Compile data and research for statistical, financial and programmatic reports.
  • Network effectively with prospective clients, small businesses and economic-development partners and stakeholders.
  • Travel throughout Miami-Dade County as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.

Job Description:

The Marketing Coordinator develops marketing strategies and creates effective marketing campaigns consistent with Small Business Development Center initiatives.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Develops marketing strategies and creates effective marketing campaigns.
  • Provides creative leadership in generating original ideas for media outreach strategies that achieve strategic goals; ensures that the designs follow the correct branding; and are in-line with appropriate targets and timelines.
  • Manages the design and development of website and social media content that supports the department’s marketing initiatives.
  • Develops print and electronic publications including brochures, flyers, announcements, invitations, bulletins, newsletters, and handbooks.
  • Develops department presentations for use at campus, stakeholders, legislative, and other departmental events.
  • Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance the marketing efforts of the department.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates effectiveness of marketing campaigns, implements new processes, and promotes best practices.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates clerical staff, OPS, and part-time student employees. Maintains work schedules, timesheets, and payroll action forms.
  • Monitors production workflow.

Job Description:

The Small Business Consultant I performs a variety of financial and business management consulting, counseling, or advisement, technical assistance, and related educational services to new and existing small businesses. Provides one-on-one consultations covering a variety of issues related to running small businesses. Develops and presents educational materials, and conducts outreach to educate clients, partners, and stakeholders on the Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) services and impact.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct technical assistance to small business clients in the research and development of business plans, sales growth plans, marketing plans, loan proposals, and related business development requirements.  Provides specialized small business advising in one or more SBDC functional areas.
  • Advises clients in small business management practices, methods, and techniques in compliance with all relevant business, accounting, and taxation laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
  • Participates in the development, promotion, coordination, and delivery of small business management training programs and workshops.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in efforts to build relationships with area businesses to establish and develop contract training opportunities.
  • Participates, as assigned, as a member of community groups and organizations to promote local business and economic development within the service area. Networks and builds relationships with community partners including Economic Development Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and other community organizations for the purpose of building a client service base.
