FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FSBDCN Headquarters: The Florida SBDC Network is pleased to announce the selection of Congressman Ander Crenshaw as the recipient of the 2015 Small Business Dividend$ Award. The Dividend$ Award, given to one legislator in recognition of efforts in support of small business, was presented to Congressman Crenshaw on Capitol Hill on March 16th.
Representing the 4th Congressional District of Florida and serving in his eighth term, Congressman Crenshaw has been a long-time proponent of small business. His pro-business votes have supported legislation to lift taxes on small businesses and provided critical funding to support business resources including SBDCs, which exist to help small businesses grow and succeed.
"Small businesses in Florida and across the nation generate jobs that keep our economy strong and deserve support from policies that will help them grow," said Crenshaw, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. "The Florida SBDC Network is a great partner in this effort and has helped thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners receive much-needed business assistance. In this growing economy, small businesses are our economic engine, and I am committed to doing everything possible to help them create, innovate and thrive."
The Florida SBDC's Dividend$ Award is given to a member of Congress based on their votes as outlined in the National Federation of Independent Business' How They Voted report. According to the NFIB's scorecard, Congressman Crenshaw received a 100% rating on small business issues during the 113th and 112th Congress.
"We are proud to present Congressman Ander Crenshaw as the 2015 Small Business Dividend$ Award recipient," said Michael Myhre, CEO and Network State Director for the Florida SBDC. "Congressman Crenshaw's long-term support of legislation in support of small business demonstrates his priority to entrepreneurs and enterprise. The ability of the Florida SBDC to serve the state's small business community is due in large part to our partners. This award reflects our appreciation."
Congressman Crenshaw is the only two-time Small Business Dividend$ Award recipient, having previously received the award in 2004. Past Dividend$ award winners include: Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (2011), Congressman Vern Buchanan (2009), Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (2008), and Congressman John Mica (2007).
Congressman Crenshaw has been recognized by many bipartisan organizations throughout his career for his support of small business, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Spirit of Enterprise Award, National Federation of Independent Business' Guardian of Small Business Award, and SCORE Hill Champion Award.
