Florida SBDC Network Announces Selection of New Regional Director

Florida SBDC Network State Office (Pensacola, Fla.) – The Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, the state's principal provider of small business assistance, is pleased to announce the selection of Tangela Lofton as the regional director of the Florida SBDC at Florida A&M University (FAMU).

We are excited to welcome Tangela to our network,” said Greg Britton, state director of the Florida SBDC Network. "Her previous experience and local connections will foster growth and success for the region and the small businesses they serve. I look forward to the great work the region will achieve under her leadership. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Aundra’ for his leadership as the interim director during the search process.”

As regional director, Lofton will provide strategic direction and oversight of the Florida SBDC at FAMU’s operations in its eight-county region. She will provide managerial leadership of the region in coordination with the priorities of the Florida SBDC Network and FAMU’s School of Business and Industry (SBI).

Lofton joins the Florida SBDC Network with a strong background in organizational management, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, business growth, and innovation. She previously served as the chief of staff at the Art District Real Estate, executive assistant at the FAMU School of Nursing, and management analyst in FAMU’s Finance & Administration Administrative Services Assistance Program (ASAP). Lofton was recently awarded the 2024 Domi Innovation Award and successfully operates her own small business in Tallahassee.

I am excited about the upward trajectory of the FSBDC at FAMU under the dynamic leadership of Ms. Tangela Lofton with the support of Mr. McGlockton and the team.”

The Florida SBDC at FAMU is a member of the Florida SBDC Network, a statewide organization that offers consulting, training, and research services for Florida-based small businesses. Hosted statewide by the University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola, the Florida SBDC Network partners with Florida's state universities, colleges, and economic development organizations to help small businesses launch, grow and thrive.

Over the past five years, the Florida SBDC at FAMU region delivered more than 28,600 consulting hours to over 1,959 clients, resulting in clients securing $81.7 million in capital, $59.8 million in government contracting, and helping businesses create and retain 2,862 jobs.
