LUCIGO Jewelry, founded by Paola Swartz, CEO and Co-Founder, was created to offer authentic, ethically sourced Colombian emeralds to women worldwide. Each piece of LUCIGO Jewelry is a celebration of resilience, strength, and inner brilliance—a reminder for women to embrace their worth and shine confidently. As a Latina immigrant, corporate professional, and mother, Paola understood the challenges of self-doubt and disconnection faced by many women. Inspired by the resilience of Colombian emeralds, which take millions of years to form, she sought to provide an accessible, sustainable, and meaningful alternative to fast-fashion and luxury jewelry.

Paola’s entrepreneurial journey was supported by the Florida SBDC at FAU. Through the Kauffman Foundation FastTrac New Venture Program, she accessed invaluable resources, including market research, branding legal guidance, and insights into importing processes. Consultant Sara Alshareef played a pivotal role in helping LUCIGO refine its market strategy and gain tools for growth.
Since partnering with the SBDC, LUCIGO has achieved remarkable milestones, including launching a new brand identity, securing $5,000 in a pitch competition, and steadily increasing sales and engagement. With plans to grow its digital presence, expand its collection, and explore additional sales channels, LUCIGO continues to empower women to embrace their resilience and inner brilliance. “The SBDC has been instrumental in helping us navigate key business challenges,” says Paola. “Their guidance has empowered us to make informed, strategic decisions.”
