National Small Business Week is more than just a celebration, it’s an opportunity to support! Small businesses are the heart of our communities. They fuel our local economies, bring character to our neighborhoods, and create jobs. During National Small Business Week this year, happening May 4 - May 10, let’s come together to uplift and celebrate the entrepreneurs who make it all happen.
Here are five ways you can show your support:
1. Shop Local & Engage Local
Whether you’re grabbing coffee, picking up a gift, or scheduling a service—choose a small business. Have a favorite spot? Sign up for their newsletter. It might not seem like much, but subscribing is a free and impactful way to show support. Plus, you’ll often hear about special sales before anyone else!
2. Spread the Word
Supporting local businesses can be as simple as sharing them on social media. So the next time you’re visiting your favorite spot, snap a pic and post it to help spread the word. Be sure to tag the business and use hashtags like #SmallBusinessWeek or #ShopSmall. Can't support them financially right now? Word of mouth is just as important! Recommend your go-to spots to your loved ones and colleagues.
3. Buy a Gift Card
Even if you don’t need something right now, buying a gift card helps small businesses with cash flow and gives you something to look forward to. Talk about a win-win. Or gift it to someone else as a gift so they can discover new local favorites!
4. Leave a Review
It only takes a minute, but a positive review can make a huge difference for a small business. Help your favorite local spots stand out by leaving them a glowing review. It helps build trust in the business and encourages others to discover them.
5. Be Kind
This one is free. Many small businesses are powered by small teams working day-to-day to create positive experiences for their guests and customers. Be patient, be kind and leave positivity wherever you go. A smile or a kind word can go a long way.
National Small Business Week is the perfect time to show appreciation for the innovators, dreamers, and doers around us. Even the smallest actions can make a big impact. Let’s celebrate small businesses not just this week, but all year long.
