Florida SBDC at IRSC Helps All Star Improve Profit Margin, Streamline Operations

All Star Carpet and Tiles (All Star), owned and operated by Juan Perez, is a premier tile and flooring company that specializes in the sale and installation of tile, carpet, laminate, wood and marble flooring; solid wood cabinets; custom granite and quartz countertops and vanities; as well as mini, vertical, horizontal and vinyl blinds and roman shades.

All Star serves customers throughout the Treasure Coast and South Florida from its locations in Stuart and Port St. Lucie.

As a small business owner, Perez sought the expertise of the Florida SBDC at Indian River State College (IRSC) to assist him in the assessment of his businesses with the goal of increasing his profit margin and streamlining operations.

In addition to helping Perez establish a working business plan, the Florida SBDC at IRSC developed a cost analysis and bidding process that helped Perez teach his staff to properly estimate and bid jobs, and manage inventory. Additionally, the Florida SBDC at IRSC developed a marketing strategy for All Star that significantly increased traffic within two weeks of implementation.

Eager to improve his business, Perez implemented the recommendations presented at his weekly consulting sessions with the Florida SBDC and immediately saw positive changes at both of his locations. As a result, the business subsequently increased profit and market share.
