Turning Personal Experience Into Purpose

For Kaustubh Kale, Founder and CEO of Aventusoft, the journey into healthcare innovation began with a deeply personal motivation. Trained as an engineer at India’s IIT and the University of Florida, and later leading advanced speech technology work at Motorola, Kaustubh had built a career around extracting meaningful data from sound. When heart failure touched his own family, he began asking a life-changing question. If technology could enhance how we process speech, could it also transform how we understand the human heart?
That question became the foundation of Aventusoft.
Driven by a desire to create meaningful change, Kaustubh left behind traditional engineering roles and committed himself to solving one of healthcare’s most urgent problems. What started as an idea quickly evolved into a mission to make advanced cardiac care safer, simpler, and more accessible.
A Breakthrough That Changes How Heart Failure Is Managed
At the center of Aventusoft’s work is HEMOTAG, a revolutionary non-invasive device capable of capturing intracardiac data in just 30 seconds. Using spatial geometry synchronized with micro vibrations and electrical signals, HEMOTAG delivers the same measurements physicians traditionally obtain through invasive cardiac catheterization, without requiring wires, procedures, or recovery time.
This innovation addresses a critical gap in heart failure care. Heart failure is the fastest-growing cardiac disease worldwide, affecting hundreds of millions of people, yet the majority of patients never receive invasive assessments due to risk and complexity. HEMOTAG removes those barriers entirely, allowing physicians to adjust medications, plan care transitions, and monitor patients both in hospitals and at home.
The device is reusable, easy to sanitize, and pairs with a standard smartphone. Patients place it on their chest using ECG electrodes, press a button, and complete a short test. Data is securely transmitted to the cloud, where physicians review results and make timely treatment decisions. For many patients, daily monitoring has meant fewer hospital visits, longer independence, and improved quality of life.
Building a Company From the Ground Up
Aventusoft began with a single founder and early funding through a Small Business Innovation Research grant awarded by the Department of Defense and DARPA. Over time, the company grew into a full-scale operation with a multidisciplinary team handling product design, manufacturing, clinical trials, software development, and data analysis entirely in-house.
The company owns its patents and trademarks and became the first to market with this technology in the United States. Yet despite technical success, Kaustubh quickly learned that building a healthcare company requires more than innovation. Adoption, commercialization, and trust all play a crucial role in bringing new technology to patients.
Finding the Right Support
While operating out of an incubator at Florida Atlantic University, Kaustubh was introduced to the Florida SBDC team located nearby. What began as informal conversations soon became a strategic partnership that helped Aventusoft navigate the complex business side of healthcare innovation.
Through educational seminars, individualized consulting, and access to specialized databases and industry connections, the SBDC at Florida Atlantic University helped Aventusoft develop a clearer commercialization roadmap. As an engineering-driven company with limited sales and marketing resources, this support filled a critical gap and helped generate early leads with healthcare institutions.
Kaustubh points specifically to the guidance he received from consultant Sara Alshareef as instrumental during this stage of growth.
“Sara Alshareef was the consultant who got us the leads, and she’s been very helpful in curating those leads.”
Opening Doors to Global Markets
The impact of the Florida SBDC extended beyond domestic growth. Through global market seminars and participation in a U.S. trade mission to Panama and Costa Rica, Aventusoft began shaping its international expansion strategy. These early experiences helped Kaustubh understand global regulatory environments and patient needs outside the United States.
That groundwork led to the launch of trial sites in Dubai and India and ongoing efforts to secure international regulatory clearances. Today, Aventusoft is actively working to expand access to HEMOTAG across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, ensuring patients worldwide can benefit from non-invasive cardiac monitoring.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Accessibility
For Kaustubh, one of the most valuable aspects of working with the Florida SBDC at Florida Atlantic University was the human connection.
“It’s very formal in terms of the value they provide, but the approach is incredibly friendly and approachable. I could call Sandra or Sara and openly share my thoughts. For a small, grant-funded company like ours, that kind of access is invaluable.”
He credits the SBDC at Florida Atlantic team for helping Aventusoft move faster, make smarter decisions, and stretch limited resources during critical stages of growth.
Measuring Success in Lives Impacted
Today, Aventusoft stands as a testament to what is possible when purpose-driven innovation meets the right support system. For Kaustubh, success is not defined by milestones alone, but by the real-world impact of the technology his team built.
“Taking an idea from paper and turning it into a real product that patients call us about and say it helped keep them alive is the biggest success we could have.”
With HEMOTAG now commercially available and international expansion underway, Aventusoft continues to pursue its mission of making advanced cardiac care accessible anywhere, anytime, for everyone.
