Margaret Johnson, owner of Salon Kyoor, LLC based in Jacksonville, Florida, started her career as a hairstylist in 2009. However, after a health scare, she learned that some chemicals used in the industry might present hazards to health. After learning about the risk of cancer from inhaling certain chemicals, she began researching and testing natural, chemical-free products in her kitchen. After a few clients began asking for her products, she saw a need to start growing her line of natural-based hair care products and branching out into merchandise. "I would say my strength would be consistency. I believe in mastering what I do. I also have confidence in what I do, because I use [the product] on myself so I know it works [and] that confidence lets me be able to explain the product and sell the product," said Johnson.
Unfortunately, Margaret suffered personal losses in her family and those struggles coupled with the challenges of the pandemic forced her to close her business of seven years. Business Consultant, Charles "Taylor" Kennedy was one of a few Florida SBDC at UNF consultants who helped Margaret with her business goals to keep Salon Kyoor, LLC moving forward and into the future as a mobile business with retail partnerships.

Margaret has since gotten her Salon Kyoor, LLC on the road and is growing her clientele (and social media following) while pursuing a degree in business.
